Name Bubbles donates $24,000 to provide safe drinking water

Name Bubbles announces today a $24,000 dollar donation made in support of Water For People, a global organization committed to building a world where all people have access to safe drinking water and sanitation. Name Bubbles made an initial $10,000 donation to Water For People in 2010 and raised an additional $14,000 for the organization in 2011. “Even though Name Bubbles is a small business, with the help of our customers and friends, many small acts of giving will assist Water For People in making a difference in the world,” said Michelle Brandriss, Founder and CEO of Name Bubbles

Name Bubbles, the award-winning personalized name labels company, announced the results of their global giving program to support Water For People, a non-profit organization that brings long-lasting water and sanitation solutions to 11 developing countries in Asia, Africa, South and Central America.

Name Bubbles made an initial $10,000 donation to Water For People in 2010 and pledged earlier this year to donate $1.25 of every bag tag purchased on the Name Bubbles company Web site to the campaign. Customers were offered the option of selecting a personalized bag tag, either a dog tag ($2) or carabiner-style tag ($2.50), and Name Bubbles donated $1.25 for each bag tag selected for purchase. In total, Name Bubbles raised $14,000 for Water for People in 2011 for a grand total of $24,000. The donation will help efforts to educate citizens/residents and transform people’s lives by improving health and economic productivity to end the cycle of poverty. “Even though Name Bubbles is a small business, with the help of our customers and friends, many small acts of giving will assist Water For People in making a difference in the world,” said Michelle Brandriss, Founder and CEO of Name Bubbles.

“Inadequate sanitation and unsafe drinking water causes disease and death around the world, and children are the most vulnerable,” says Brandriss. “When I first learned about Water For People, I was inspired by their belief, commitment, and partnership approach in helping communities develop long-lasting local solutions that help build a world where all people have access to safe drinking water and sanitation. Name Bubbles is a global internet retailer specializing in children’s name labels, so supporting families and, in particular, children around the world, made Water For People a natural choice for our first ever giving program.”

“We are so thrilled and thankful for the support of Name Bubbles and your many customers. The scale of the global water and sanitation crisis is massive, yet solvable. Water For People is committed to creating lasting change and impact for water and sanitation in the developing world now and forever. We believe that true change will only be achieved if everyone commits to improving these conditions throughout the world, today and tomorrow. My sincere thanks to you all for being a part of the solution.” Ned Breslin, CEO of Water For People.

According to a 2008 report from the World Health Organization (WHO) and UNICEF, approximately 884 million people lack access to clean water and 2.6 billion people do not have adequate sanitation. “This problem is staggering, and we wanted to help Water For People create solutions that will ensure that whole communities including schools and health clinics in the developing world have access to water and sanitation resources that last. As a business, we could act, support, and offer a product that Name Bubbles’ customers could really use, and at the same time help Water For People transform communities. I’m honored to say that by working together, with our generous customers, Name Bubbles has made a significant contribution to Water For People and the families they help empower,” Brandriss said.
