Saratoga Bridges was among 15 local organizations chosen to receive a donation from Ballston Spa Elementary, Middle and High Schools’ Penny Harvest project on Tuesday, May 21.

The Ballston Spa School District and State Farm Insurance hosted a reception and check presentation to announce that the students raised $9,360 for charity.  The Penny Harvest roundtable group at Milton Terrace North selected Saratoga Bridges who obtained $1,000 from their efforts. State Farm Insurance provided a grant that supports the Penny Harvest Service Learning Project, whose missions is to transform children into engaged citizens by giving them the knowledge, tools and power to solve real life problems in our community. Each fall student leaders rally their entire school to collect pennies. During the winter months, roundtable members intensively research community needs, debate causes, interview, visit organizations and work together to determine grant decisions. Each spring, students distribute grants and enhance their impact with hands-on neighborhood service projects.
