The Historical Society of Moreau and South
Glens Falls has obtained $500 from the Stewart’s Holiday Match Program for its 2013
educational programming at the Parks-Bentley Place in South Glens Falls.
Stewart’s Shops have matched donations from throughout the
holiday period annually for more than 25 years and give grants to Capital
District non-profits for children’s educational programming.
The Historical Society will use the money for its annual Summer
History Camp designed for elementary-age children in August. The money will also be used to create new
programs at the Parks-Bentley Place, particularly for the newly restored 19th
century summer kitchen.
This summer’s History Camp theme is “Food For Thought” and
incorporates food gathering, preparation, and preservation in the 1800s through
a hands-on and fun learning experiences for local children.
