Hadley-Luzerne Central School Class of 1957 Reunion

Hadley-Luzerne Central School, Class of 1957, celebrated their 55th Class reunion, Saturday, Sept. 15 aboard the Lake George Steamboat Co.'s, Lac du Saint Sacrement.

Local Feds feed families



Officers from the local Naval Base presented Franklin Community Center with bags of non-perishable food items for the food pantry.  The food donation was in conjunction with Feds Feed Families,  a government-wide effort led by the Chief Human Capital Officers (CHCO) Council, in partnership with the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), and the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).  Nationwide, the drive collected more than 1200 pounds of food.  Present in photo: Bo Goliber of Franklin Community Center, Commander Vince Garcia, Commanding Officer Lieutenant Chris Hutchinson, Executive Officer Senior Chief Lynn Lambert, Senior Enlisted Leader, Mr. Doug Quinn, Defense Commissary Store Manager, Mrs. Sue Bone, Admin Officer. 

Mayor declares Academy for Lifelong Learning Day


Saratoga Springs City Mayor Scott T. Johnson proclaimed September 7 as Academy for Lifelong Learning Day in the city in recognition of the Academy's 20th Anniversary. Academy members met on that day at their Orientation Brunch and began study groups on Monday, September 10. The Academy, sponsored by SUNY Empire State College and associated with the college’s Office of Communications and Government Relations, is a membership organization offering non-credit academic study groups, as well as social and leadership opportunities to older learners. Openings remain in several study groups and registrations are still being accepted. Interested parties may obtain fall brochures in local libraries, by calling the A.L.L. office (587-2100, ext. 2415) or on the Academy web site:www.esc.edu/ALL.
