Skidmore professor seeking weight loss study participants

Dr. Paul Arciero, Professor of Health and Exercise Sciences and Director of the Human Nutrition and Metabolism Laboratory at Skidmore College is recruiting interested volunteers, both men and women, for an 11-week weight loss study he will be conducting at Skidmore College.
There will be an informational meeting on Wednesday, Aug. 21 and Thursday, Aug. 22 from 7 to 8 p.m. at Skidmore's Sportscenter, Room 201, located in the front lobby.
If you're interested in participating in the study, you only need to attend one info meeting.
Email Dr. Arciero at parciero@skidmore.edu or call him at 580-5366. There is only enough space in the study for 40 participants, so it will fill up quickly.
Briefly, the study will closely monitor and supervise 40 men and women between the ages of 25-65 years old with the following:
1)         Measurement of body composition (body fat, lean muscle mass and bone mineral density)
2)         Measurement of resting metabolic rate (how many calories you burn at rest)
3)         Measurement of blood biomarkers, including cholesterol, sugar (glucose), and feelings of hunger
4)         Nutritional counseling weekly by a Registered Dietician on healthy eating and other healthy lifestyle strategies to promote optimal health and physical performance
All participants who successfully complete the 11-week study will be paid $150.
