Galway Central School District Vacancy on Board of Education

The Galway Central School District has a vacancy on the Board of Education due to the resignation of Nancy Lisicki whose term of office was to expire on June 30, 2015.

This vacancy is for a term of office that begins as soon as possible and remains in effect until the next School Election on May 24, 2014 at which time voters will have the opportunity to vote for a candidate to complete Nancy Lisicki’s term of office.

To qualify for membership on a school board, an individual:
·     Must be able to read and write
·     Must be a qualified voter of the district, that is, a citizen of the United States, at least 18 years or older; and not a convicted felon or adjudged an incompetent
·     Must be and have been a resident of the district for a continuous and uninterrupted period of at least one year, but need not be a taxpayer
·     May not have been removed from any school district office within the preceding year
·     May not reside with another member of the same school board as a member of the same family
·     May not be a current employee of the school board
·     May not simultaneously hold another incompatible public office

Taylor's Heroes seeking applicants


The non-profit association Taylor’s Heroes, is currently looking for applicants ages 10-18 who are interested in getting fit. If selected, applicants join a 3-month free program that includes an overall fitness class, the ability to try 2 new sports/ activities of their choosing, and the chance to learn valuable nutrition information from experts in the community. BSBPA seeks property beautification nominations

TAKE PRIDE IN YOUR COMMUNITY:

The Ballston Spa Business & Professional Association is requesting nominations for its 2013 Property Beautification Awards in the village of Ballston Spa. The awards are given in recognition of the restoration, renovation, new build, and beautification efforts by homeowners and businesses, which have enhanced the Ballston Spa community within the past 2 years.  The awards will be sponsored by Curtis Lumber. 

Criteria for nomination can include renovations and restorations, new builds, new painting, new attractive signage and/or window display or landscaping improvements.  All projects should be complete at the time of nomination.  Residential nominations should be limited to the exterior of the property, while business nominations may also include interior projects.

Give the gift of lifelong learning; A.L.L. offers gift certificates




SARATOGA SPRINGS Searching for a new, unusual, and lasting birthday, anniversary or retirement gift idea?  Gift certificates for the Academy for Lifelong Learning at Saratoga Springs (A.L.L.) are now available in any denomination. They are a great way to introduce friends and relatives to this nonprofit membership organization, which is sponsored by Empire State College and offers non-credit academic study groups for mature learners.
